>The “Bigfoot” wormery is designed to process large amounts of food and organic waste. It will process up to 9kgs of waste per day when fully established.

>The by-product is rich, finished, 100% organic compost, excellent for re-selling to organic growers, for growing your own organic fruit, vegetables or plants, or simply for improving the structure and fertility of your soil, without the use of synthetic fertilisers.

>The “Bigfoot” is just under 1 metre tall/wide, and weighs approx. 36kgs. It has a surface area of 2.1 square metres

>“Bedding” needs to be added to the Bigfoot regularly, between the layers of fresh food that are added. Bedding should be of high carbon material that provides bulk to the waste to increase the airflow. Typical bedding materials are: Leaves, Shredded plain paper or cardboard, Chopped straw or hay, Wood shavings or Wood Chips, Finished horticultural compost, Sawdust (except cedar).

"Bigfoot" Organic Wormery

The "Bigfoot" wormery was the first mid-scale bin to appear on the US market in 1994. It has probably enjoyed more sales than any other mid-scale worm bin.

The Bigfoot is designed to process large amounts of food and organic waste. The by-product is a rich finished compost.
It is 3 feet tall and 3 feet wide and weighs approx. 80 lbs.It has a surface area of 7 square feet and can take up to 20lbs of
waste per day, which returns 75lbs of worm compost per week.

The system never needs to be emptied or restarted, using 100%
of the composting area.

What the worms will eat:
Worms will consume almost any decaying organic matter. This includes food waste, chopped straw or hay, leaves and grass clippings, shredded plain paper and cardboard, plus animal manure of non-meat eating animals. Approximately 30% of what is added for the worms should be carbon, i.e. shredded plain paper and cardboard.
Although worms will consume a certain amount of meat and dairy waste, it is advisable to eliminate or greatly limit (less than 10%) the amounts being added to the Bigfoot, to avoid odours developing.

The smaller the particle size of your waste, the faster the worms can eat. Chopping or shredding the waste will greatly increase the productivity of the worms.

>The Bigfoot is heated & insulated for optimum year round use.

> It features a raised floor design providing maximum aeration for faster worm feeding and shorter composting times. Just turn the harvest handle, remove the door and collect the worm-free finished compost from the bottom tray.

>The Bigfoot requires no compost turning and requires no separating of worms and partially decomposed waste
from the finished compost.
